This is the base to get when you don't want to mess around wondering if your free-standing umbrella is going to blow away the next time the wind picks up.

The ability to add ballast with bricks, sand, or both to get the weight you need is very practical. We found that a dozen bricks alone was plenty adequate for a 9-ft umbrella. Some assembly, including power-driving 20 or so screws is required, but that's a one-time effort which once done won't need to be repeated. The weighted base rolls easily on its casters, two of which lock.

The price may seem a bit high—in fact more than our umbrella!—but it won't once you actually use the product. I'd buy another one without hesitation.
