This fire pit is a snap to light thanks to the electronic ignition, but it looks totally natural due to the hidden control panel. My wife and I were in the market for a fire pit. realizing that most gas/LP pits were $1000 or more we found this model. After ordering it online on Labor Day we [...]hopped to it and had it together in an hour-and-a-half. Not much to assembly... a screw driver and an allen wrench (that's all) I figure if it takes no time at all to assemble, it must be cheesy cheep. Trust me, this is well built, and could cause some difficulty in assembly.One of my (little) concerns with this fire pit was hiding the white LP tank underneath... well, to my surprise they included a black cover that snuggly fits over your tank and it virtually disappears. (nice touch) it easily lights... and after about a minute the blue flames turn into a natural yellow campfire without the smoke and mess. Yes, you can sit anywhere without getting smoke blown in your eyes. And as for the heat... last night it was 45 degrees here and my wife and I sat with our feet up by the fire and found it totally comfortable. By the way, my Martin D-41 sounded pretty sweet as well as I played guitar for over an hour.The Fire is mesmerizing... wonderful product, we want to buy our in-laws one... still might. And yes, it's true...Happy wife, happy life :)

While it is a pretty piece, an assembly that I assessed to be 45min ended up at 2+ hours!! REALLY look closely at the pictures in the instructions. There are VERY few descriptive words to help. I had struggled to do steps 1-3 THEN found that I put the burner assembly off by 90 degrees so I had to take things apart and start over! The majority of the assembly uses 10-32 light weight screws and the alignment with the pre-inserted captive nuts was bad. I ended up having to use a hand Phillips screw driver and was not able to align about 20% of the screws. I put things together ALL the time, and this was painful. BUT... it looks great!!

The firepit is a great addition to our patio area and we like to use it on cool evenings to relax outside.
The assembly directions are a bit difficult to follow and could not complete the assembly with one person. But once assembled it is very sturdy and I believe that it will last for a long time.
Priced more costly versions at local retail stores and saved by purchasing and putting together myself. Well worth it!

In Step 2,when attaching the control to the top make sure the control knobs face the location where the heat shield attaches to the top (two screw holes).
When attaching the last middle post, align the bottom holes first. (we had to set the post under the bottom part to do this.)
Attach the doors before turning right side up as there are two "C" screws that screw in from bottom.
Place tank into holder and then pull the chain over the tank.
Don't insert the peg into retaining hole until the tank is inside.
Hold the knob in when lighting and don't release for a few seconds.

This is a super looking gas fire pit. Easy to use and great for gatherings on a chilly evening. Putting it together is an afternoon project...the written instructions were not very clear, but patience and a cold beer made it come together. The components are a little flimsy when you are putting them together but the finished product seems sturdy. We used it for our holiday party this past weekend and there was a crowd around it all night.

It wasn't so hard to put together, leave screws loose untill all are in and then tighten. It took me over an hour to assemble but I was watching football. Looks nice throws of a decent amount of heat and is sturdy. After finishing I had a Margarita like those girls in Carlsbad, Ca.did. They are a few miles from me and I would love to have margarita with them'

This is a very nice fire pit once it is assembled. However; many of the screw holes and bolts do not line up making assembly very frustrating. The instructions have very poor directions making assembly a little confusing. Once you get it together you will have a good looking fire pit that seems to be pretty sturdy.

A: No, the manufacturer recommends not using fire glass with this propane fire pit.

Q2: Any idea how many hours a tank of gas will last?

A: 10 - 12 hours

A: This model only comes with liquid propane features. It cannot be converted to natural gas.
