About Fir Wood
Fir has characteristics very similar to Cedar. Well known for its combination of stability and light weight, it is commonly used in furniture, both here and abroad. While being naturally weather-resistant, it may be further stained or finished to endure and age gracefully for many years. If left unfinished, the wood will fade to a silver gray when used outdoors. Like Cedar, the grain is usually straight and displays prominent growth rings and knots.

My wife bought these for us and I love them. They are easy to assemble and instructions are well written and all hardware is labeled to make construction easy. I also like the ottoman feature on these chairs. The only thing I wish is that the arm were wider. Also I would recommend painting or sealing to make them more weather proof. I chose to paint mine in a tropical style and love having them by the pool!

No BIG suprises

I thought the BIG daddy was going to be a larger chair, I was wrong. I guess it's big for a XXL [*]guy that made it, but as for a 5'4 200 lb white guy, I find it to be of normal size. I spent two days taking the entire chairs and table apart and sealing each and every piece. I also glued the screw wholes as alot of them were over tightened from factory (note: if you stick tooth picks in the wholes, it will tighten up the screws). The chairs sit well and the 2 positions are well placed for the back rest. The slide out ottoman is nice, but invest in "lock nuts" as the nuts it comes with will turn out and you will potentially break the legs at the end of it. Lastly, There is a stain on it, I used a clear sealer on it, and it was very close in color to the redwood sealer by maxium at the "L" improvement store. All in all, with a bit of work on the chairs and some time you can have chairs that look like they cost alot more and hopefully last. (i do agree with the other person, bolting them together is scarry to tightn them, as they do pull into the wood.)

easy to assemble, I did it myself..a 53 year old grandmother! and I love that they are so light welght.
Ready to finish to my taste. I think I am just going to seal them, I love the color they are!

Very nice chairs for the price. The first one took 30 min to assemble and the second even less. They will be getting a lot of use after we seal the wood.
