The powder coat of flat black paint is just that. The stand comes as two pieces, the base and the part for the pole. The pre-drilled holes were not quite right, so my husband had to forcefully re-thread the bolts. The paint has already started to chip and flake away where the pole stand meets the base. I ordered 2 of these bases. One came in a completely different box, with more tape than box holding everything together. They definitely should be packaged in a sturdy wood crate, not cardboard. Not worth the [$] each I paid for them.

Service and delivery comments:

The cardboard/styrofoam packaging is clearly not strong enough to hold 80+ lbs of weight. One of the two bases came packaged in a completely different box and was rigged and taped to try to keep everything contained. I also had to work around sticky, old soda that apparently was spilled during the repack of the base. Coral Coast ought to be ashamed of the inferior packaging and FedEx ought to learn how to repack or send back an item instead of delivering an item in the condition in which my package was received.

This stand will be great once we have the post cut down so it fits under the table. The height of the post is about 7 inches too high to fit under the umbrella hole in the frame of our table. Because it is made of iron, we need a blowtorch to cut it! It is so heavy, it won't go anywhere during a storm! The diameter of the post fits the 2 inch diameter umbrella pole.
