This item can only be used with an umbrella from this company.Deck Mount Plates will work on wooden decks as well as concrete patios. Both will be 3/4 inches high and 9 inches in diameter. Installing on wood will require a drill with a 1/4 inch drill bit, lag screws, washers and a ratchet with 1/2 inch socket. Installing on concrete will require a hammer drill with a 1/2 inch concrete bit, 4 concrete spread anchors, 4 mounting bolts with washers, and a ratchet with 1/2 inch socket.
The freestanding base requires 400lbs of stabilization which can be accomplished with 8 20-inch square patio blocks or by weighting the free planter kit included with this set (a $65 value!).
